Connecting Deaf and Hearing Communities In ASL!
ASL Deaf Chat is a nonprofit organization dedicated to connecting Deaf and hearing communities through American Sign Language (ASL). Based in Central Florida, we create inclusive spaces for social events, learning, and cultural celebration. Our mission is to foster understanding, friendship, and accessibility between Deaf and hearing individuals. At ASL Deaf Chat, everyone belongs. We’re here to build friendships, break down barriers, and make sure every voice is seen and heard. Come join us! we can’t wait to meet you!
ASL Knights x ASL Deaf Chat Collaboration!
Since Spring 2024, ASL Deaf Chat and ASL Knights have been working together to create welcoming spaces for the Deaf community. ASL Deaf Chat focuses on hosting off-campus events, while ASL Knights organizes activities both on and off campus. By combining our efforts, we support Deaf awareness, student engagement, and community connection.
First Collaboration with the Disability Advocacy Network and Bridge Language Services was a Success!
On June 10, 2025, ASL Deaf Chat proudly hosted our first collaboration with the Disability Advocacy Network and Bridge Language Services. The event was filled with energy, connection, and an incredible turnout from the community! We were thrilled to see Deaf community members, students, and allies come together to celebrate inclusion and advocacy. This wonderful event marked the beginning of many more opportunities to collaborate, raise awareness, and continue strengthening our community.
ASL Deaf Chat Expands To Tampa!
ASL Deaf Chat hosted our first Tampa event on July 24, 2025 and it was an incredible success! THANK YOU to the amazing Tampa Deaf community, college students, CODAs, hearing allies, and interpreters for showing up and making this event unforgettable. We were truly blown away by the turnout, the energy, and the overwhelming community support. This is just the beginning we can’t wait to bring even more events to Tampa! ASL Deaf Chat was founded on June 29, 2024, in Orlando, Florida, with the mission of celebrating Deaf culture and creating inclusive spaces for both Deaf and hearing communities. After a year of growth, we expanded to the Tampa area on July 5, 2025, where we’re excited to continue building bridges, fostering connections, and strengthening our community through welcoming events.
ASL Deaf Chat x TampaKind!
ASL Deaf Chat is grateful for the opportunity to connect with TampaKind, part of the City of Tampa’s Community Engagement Team. TampaKind shared their excitement about ASL Deaf Chat’s expansion into Tampa and their support for creating spaces that highlight Deaf culture while strengthening connections between Deaf and hearing communities.
These early conversations have been both encouraging and inspiring, and we look forward to exploring opportunities to collaborate with the City of Tampa as we continue building bridges, fostering inclusion, and celebrating community together.
